First Saturday – SK Gary Van Schaften

Handicapped individuals from three nursing homes in Wayne, Passaic County, were transported to participate in this 35 year established activity, held and sponsored for the first time by our K of C Council of St. Michael the Archangel and held at LaNeve’s Restaurant, on October 22. The participating Wayne nursing homes were The Atrium at Wayne, Regency Gardens, and Wayne View.  Our Chaplain, the Reverend Father Rijo, S.D.V. was selected by Bishop Serratelli to officiate.  Also in attendance was the Rev. Robert Vass, S.D.V. Following the Mass, Brother Knights served the participants a delicious lunch of fruit cup, penne pasta with meatballs, rolls, soda, ice cream and coffee, courtesy of Rosa and Sal La Rosa.  The Mayor of the Township of Wayne provided the busses and bus drivers Tom and Manny were paid for by Council #10206, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Wayne and Council #6354, Our Lady of the Valley, Wayne. These two councils helped transport the Nursing Home residents back and forth from LaNeve's. Volunteer Brother Knights from Council # 6903, St. Paul’s, Prospect Park were also present to work along with the Councils in a joint effort to make this activity a successful one for our Council, St. Michael the Archangel.  A special thanks to two sweet young ladies who accompanied their GK Dad Bob Maguire from Our Lady of the Valley Council, Jenna, age 11 and Marissa, age 14.  Future commitments include:
